Hey, if my 508 is not connected (when I'm not a Dish customer anymore) can I still view whta is on the hard drive?

The box will try to look for a signal until you tell it not to (press cancel, then navigate to the PVR list via the menus) but yes, this capability has been in this series for a couple years now, as RV and vacation home users made requests for it.

If you do leave it connected to the dish you can get the NASA channel and all of the other free channels. Plus you can get the Interactive channels (weather & 100) and I suppose that you could even order pay-per-view.

I've been watching all the NASA stuff. It's a little more active than it used to be with all of the Mars stuff.

And the kids like to go in and play the Free game on Playin TV. :D
