I currently own a 721 and 501 and am patiently trying to locate a 921 ... I have two questions.

1. I do not have a land line at my home (just cell service and cable for my high speed internet service) I was told I would be required to have an active land line hooked to the 921 ... is this true?
2. I was told that there is an upgrade program from Dish that would enable an existing customer to purchase the 921 for $600.00 (if you qualify) Is there any truth to this?

Any input would be appriciated.

Regards,

Mike :)

Dish T & C's require a phone line for more than one receiver, in order to verify that they're all in the same location. Although they often don't enforce. However, those with more than 4 receivers have been contacted by E* lately.

I have 4 Rx & whenever I call them (twice in 2 years) they just aksed me to read that number (on the screen where you test the switch).

I do not & will not connect to a landline, ever.

I've had my 921 running for a couple of weeks without a phone line and it's running fine. Previously I had my 6000 and 301 running without phone lines for 2 years.

I have two of my PVR receivers plugged in (my 921 and 510) while my two dishplayers are not. No problems so far, although your PPV functionality will be impacted if that concerns you as it can't call home (I'm not sure about PPVs you order over the phone).

I'm assuming you are using a cell phone for communication, so you could still call and order PPVs.
