View Full Version : Can a Dish 500 receive D* HDTV?
Question:
My set up now is 2-DirecTivos fed by a 3 LNB oval Dish. I also have a Dish 6000 fed by a Dish 500. If I switch to D*HDTV (HD DirectTivo or standalone) will the Dish 500 work if I get rid of the SW21, or will I need to get a multiswitch for the DirecTV oval dish?

I would say no, really not compatible in most ways,
(of course someone may know more on trying this)
IMO
would be better to go with multiswitch.

You'll need to get a multi-switch for the D* dish. Your Dish-500 is pointing at the wrong satellites for D*. Well, sort of. The Dish-500 is pointed at 110 and 119, and the D* 3-LNB is pointing at 101, 110, and 119. But the D* equipment is expecting the specific LNB setup of the D* dish, so the Dish-500 isn't going to work.
