I just got my hands on a PVR721 and I'm having problems with it. When I first power up I get the dish NETWORK logo, then after a few seconds under the logo I get a message;

Testing system ...
Validating hard drive ...

Then about 1 - 2 minutes later I get a message;

Please wait ...

and there it sits for ever. I can't get passed this message.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Sam

Sounds like a bad hard drive:( Whatever buy the system warranty, wait 31 days and report it broke. With CC autopay they will advance exchange free. Otherwise theres a $15 shiopping charge.

samand...
my 721 does the same thing---
just press your power button a
few seconds and release..
you should be good to go when
it powers back up...

Oddmine has never done that! Seemingly every other possible bug. Hve to remember this in case it happens!

I have tried the power button. When it comes back on, it goes through the same routine and just stops.

Is there a way to perform a reboot on these systems?

Call Dish and ask for advanced techs for the 721 and they will help you.

IF the unit has never been "opened" or "hacked" by "anyone".

Then go for the extended warranty.

You have to have the 721(receiver/smart card) activated(called in) on your E* account,

AND Get the $1.99 warranty on your E* account.

After 30 days, (covers all your E* equipment).

Then "if" you have problems (after 30 days) report any E* equipment problems
to tech support. Any E* hardware will then be covered by your warranty.

<skip>.

Never been published that receiver "hacked" - look likes it's bulletproof PVR ! :grin:
