View Full Version : 6000U Component Out SD looks terrible ?

Dish touts that SD output thru the Component outputs in HD Mode (blue light) are upconverted to HD (1080I). I truly believe that if this is true then the upconverter used must be a real piece of work (ie garbage). SD thru the S-video connector in SD mode looks alot better and matches the PQ of my 501 receiver. Any comments on this would be appreciated and are others seeing the same results? Thanks, Gerry

I also find that my television (Pioneer Elite) does a much better job of upconverting than the 6000 does. In addition, Pioneer's "Natural Wide" stretch looks much better than any of the stretch modes on the 6000, so for me the decision to use the S-video input to view standard def programming is an easy choice.
