Well, I'm currently a Dish subscriber, but I'm ready to jump to DirecTV as soon as my contract is up. Mostly because I'm hoping for some sort of new subscriber deal on an HD Tivo? Has anyone heard anything about a new subscriber deal including one?

In fact the latest report seems to be suggesting that MSRP may be $999, not $800 as previously reported.
Currently D*'s best deals on HDTV receivers is for existing customers. Some places have free DTivo's, though, for new customers. (or $99 for existing)

I got my 508 from Dish for 50 bucks when I signed up. I'm not expecting an HD-Tivo for that price from DirecTV, but I would think a new subscriber might get a few hundred bucks knocked off the price with a contract commitment.

It won't be released for another month or two. We'll know at that time.

Most are saying that since the MSRP went up so did the rate for new customers.

New Customer HD Tivo now is $799 with once year contract. Up from $599.

Should be 20-40 avl in Feb and 100's in March with the main roll out in April (kind of like how the 921 is moving out).

Called a slow opening.

200 are already in the homes of Pilot testers. They all have NDAs signs so they cant talk much.

Scott is the new customer price speculation or fact?

I hope speculation, I would jump at $599. If Dish keeps that sweet upgrade deal for the 921 going, perhaps D* will have to match that. My whole reason for switching is going to be to get the new subscriber subsidies on my HD equipment. I figure that will be the last major leap in TV technology I should have to make for a while. This spring/early summer hopefully will be a great time to be a new subscriber for either E* or D*.

I'm really hoping they try to attract new customers with low prices on HD equipment.

What do you think the price will be for existing customers? I can't afford a thousand bucks.

The only thing D* has announced is $999 for HD Tivo. Right now, anything else you hear is purely speculation.
