This may have slipped thru the cracks because not many people have the need to use closed captioning. As someone who is very hard of hearing and use closed captioning often I find the best way to view the CC is the standard solid black background, and solid white lettering foreground. This combination eliminates the occasional blending of the lettering with the picture being displayed, making it difficult to read. When in the HD mode CC is only available thru the 921 receiver. I have two bugs to report:
BUG#1-When choosing the solid background option via the main
menu-preferences-closed caption it remains translucent. The transparent and translucent options seem to work fine, but when selecting solid option, the background remains translucent. When I go back into the menu the solid option is checked as enabled. I tried all different color combos to work around this problem, but I still can't get around the occasional blending with the picture background which create reading difficulties. It's hard to tell, but I think this is also happening with the solid option as it applies to the lettering or foreground option. It remains translucent.
BUG#2- When CC is off and I go into the menu to turn it on, select caption on, select done. On a couple of occasions when the picture returned it started changing from regular to dim, back and forth, and locked up like that. (DIM) remote didn't work, had to reboot. Most of the time when I enable the CC and return to the picture from the menu the picture does the dim regular thing once or twice and then the CC appears and the picture remains stable.
