Reported to be up, even though not available to mere-mortals :D
Cool  that's, what, 4 or 5 new shopping channels this year.
Glad to see Charlie is giving us what we want. Since there is not any other compelling programming out there.
Only HD channels, Ovation, Goodlife, Trio, PBS Kids, Nicktoons ect.

I just personally like it, when they plug available holes in the EPG...
Would like to see it all filled up from 100 to 9999 :)
Then we can go to 5 digits :D
Makes that price increase a little more palatable, doesn't it?

This is not why I pay good money to DISH for programming. Why can't Charlie listen to us and put real channels on there and stop wasting bandwidth for useless crap such as this and BingoTV??

hehe - cuz shopping channels make 'em money :)

Some people may like the shopping channels, but I think they're a waste of air space and shouldn't even count in the number of channels you have in your package. If the supposed new channels end up being mostly shopping channels, it would make me seriously consider switching to DirecTV once my obligation to Dish is over.

'em who like it - are people too (j/k) :D
I can see a handful of shopping channels, but how many are there now, 17? Anyone know if all of these channels are making a profit? I don't see how 17 or so shopping channels can survive longterm.
If there are any more out there, I bet Charlie is 'in negotiation' to carry every single shopping channel in existence.

It's beyond us anyhow..All we can do is sit back and enjoy the ride :D

Shopping channels PAY. The only cost to E* is channels unavailable for other programming.
Two more channels to lock out of the EPG. :)

Well, we already have 5 digit channels. OpenTV channels are in the 19XXXs and other stuff in the 36XXXs. Of course "mere mortals" and some others cannot see them that way. :D

I can't stand shopping channels either, but you guys seem to be forgetting that these new shopping channels are on only during unused times on the Business TV channels that already exist. The option is, sell the time on these channels to infomercial or shopping channels or let them sit empty and not making revenue for 20 hours a day.
The option of having a real channel talking up the leftovers would not be acceptable to most channels nor to most subscribers no matter what they say beforehand.
See ya

WooHoo! 2 more blurry channels to drink beer to.
BTW: 216, 217 and 218 are not scheduled to be time-shared at this point. They have there own channel.

I was talking about normal channels... and the ones that mere-mortals would be able to see..
And yes - 216, 217, 218 and such - seem to be stand alone channels..
they have their own channels

I believe that is the other way around. Unless ReMax TV and Radio Shack's feeds are airing on shopping networks too.
I've seen these programs listed on the BTV channels that normally mirror a shopping channel. I figured that they were switched in and out of the shopping feed when private information was to be aired (using the shopping feed for fill at times when no BTV program was there instead of a slate). Perhaps John can "click his button" some time during those special feeds to confirm the change? That's one of the many questions that looking at the live PID information interests me.
BTW: The RS program asked for a password when I selected the channel, I wasn't home during ReMax TV to check.

Five shopping channels added within the last month (if you count Bingo TV) ... I'm sorry, but Charlie and Schwimmer have just absolutely lost it. People are not asking for this!!! I understand that some shopping channels belong on Dish (QVC, HSN, maybe Shop at Home, maybe ShopNBC, maybe maybe Men's Channel), but adding five new channels of this cr*p while not adding requested channels insults E* subs.
BTW, I looked at the DirecTV channel lineup card, I only found 6 shopping channels. Funny thing is, Total Choice+ and locals costs the same as AT120 plus locals, with many additional *real* channels. And D* still seems to be making money.
If you have channel numbers for the ReMax and Radio Shack feeds, I can check for the mirroring at any time as they do not switch the PIDs. They only switch the authorization with the EPG stream on these type channels.
PID switching is only used on some of the PPVs, such as NBA League Pass and NHL Center Ice.

I believe they were on 9601 and/or 9602. The RemaxTV was in the EPG for the channel around noon for an about two hour block. Radio Shack was in the evening ... and I saw it too long ago to recall the exact channel or time. But it was one of the 9600's channels that normally mirror shopping.
Are they shutting down the 200's shopping channel while RemaxTV or similar is on? That would be odd, but I suppose they could take the loss on a few hours. It is possible that many of these channels are being put up BY E* and they get a commission cut (as much NTR broadcast material goes).

The Mens Channel shows 2-hours of non-shopping hunting programs starting at 7ct, according to the EPG.

Perhaps it is best to answer this way:
If the BTV channel normally mirrors a Shopping channel, when the BTV client is using the channel they will place the shopping channel number in an off-air status making it unaccessible. The combination of the 2 "channels" is really a time-shared channel and cannot have 2 different programs at the same time.

That makes sense.

I'm sure I'm dreaming; but wouldn't it be nice if Charlie said in his next Chat the following: Okay, America, once we get 50 home-shopping channels on Dish Network, we'll finally be able to add Oxygen, Nicktoons, and Goodlife TV. And once we add an additional 50 more home-shopping channels beyond that point, we'll add Ovation, BET Jazz, and the VH1 and MTV suites. And at which point we add yet another 50 home-shopping channels….

Confirmed!
9611 BTV's channel matches 223 HLC, except for EPG data.
The RemaxTV feeds I was talking about are scheduled for 1/19 and 1/20 on Channel 9611 from Noon to 2pm ET. On Channel 223 they have "Off-Air" scheduled for the times in question.
9602 BTV has "Herbalife" scheduled at 9pm ET 1/19. 225 TBFC is it's shared channel and they have "Off-Air" scheduled for that time as well.
That certainly frees up some bandwidth! (Although what they do with ETC3 during the times BingoTV isn't on is a fair question.)
