The DBSTalk.com Survivor: All Stars Official Rules of Play:
1. The DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest is sponsored by DBSTalk.com and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/). CBS, Mark Burnett Productions, Dish Network, DirecTV, and Hughes are in no way affiliated with the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest. All trademarks are property of their respective companies.
2. All rules concerning game play of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest are subject to modification. If modification of the rules becomes necessary, the rule changes will be posted at DBSTalk.com.
3. All decisions made by the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator are final.
4. All DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest participants are required to be registered members of DBSTalk.com to enter the Contest. While participants from around the world are allowed to play, prizes will be only awarded to residents of the United States.
5. Winners of any DBSTalk.com Contests are eligible to win only one time in every 12 month period. Previous Second and Third Place finishers may continue to enter and are elligible to win the Grand Prize. Grand Prize winners from previous DBSTalk Survivor Contests are not elligible to win the Grand Prize.
6. Prizes:
Grand Prize: Your choice between a Dish Network DVR-921 receiver (valued at $999) or a Hughes HD-DVR250 receiver (valued at $999) provided by Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/). Dish Depot will ship the receiver directly to the winner upon completion of the Contest and verification of the Contest results.
Second Place Prize: a DVD of the participants' choice (valued up to $30) or two items from the DBSTalk.com online store (valued up to $30).
Last Place Prize: a DVD of the participants' choice (valued up to $30) or two items from the DBSTalk.com online store (valued up to $30).
The Participant with greatest number of points at the conclusion of the Contest will choose which receiver is to be awarded to him/her.
Last Place is defined as the player with the fewest number of points at the end of the contest who voted in every poll in the contest. If you miss even one poll in the contest, you are NOT elligible to win the Last Place Prize!
Due to the possibility Directv chargeback rules may change for dealers, there is a possibility that NRTC area participants may not be elligible to win the Hughes HD-DVR250 receiver.
All taxes are the sole responsibility of the grand prize winner. Winner will be required to submit full name, address, telephone number, and social security number to be awarded the Grand Prize. We have to keep the IRS happy this time.
8. Odds of winning depend on how well participants answer the poll questions, and on the number of participants in the Contest. Prizes will be awarded when Survivor: All-Stars ends its season on CBS in May, 2004. Prize winners will be notified via email. DBSTalk.com and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/) will pay any shipping charges for prizes. There will be no substitution of prizes by the Contest Winners allowed. DBSTalk and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/) reserve the right to substitute grand prize of equal or greater value if the Dish Network 921 or the Hughes HD-DVR250 receivers are not available at the conclusion of the contest. No purchase is necessary to participate or win.
9. In the event Survivor: All-Stars ends before its complete run on CBS (i.e. network cancellation), the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest participants leading at the time of Survivor: All-Stars' end will be awarded the prizes.
Should current world events lead CBS to pull Survivor: All-Stars from the current schedule for a limited period of time, the contest will be "put on hold" until such time as Survivor: All-Stars resumes on CBS. The DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator shall be the sole judge of the definition of the term "limited".
Should events outside of the DBSTalk.com Administrators' control cause DBSTalk.com to cease operations during the contest for a temporary time, the contest shall be put on hold until such time when DBSTalk.com becomes operational again. Any weeks missed will not be counted in the overall results, but the DBSTalk Contest Coordinator shall revise point awards and poll values to attempt to make up for points lost. Should events outside of DBSTalk.com control force the closure of DBSTalk.com permanently, the contest will end at that point, and the prizes shall be awarded to the current leaders at the time of the closure.
10. In the event of a tie, the tiebreakers will be as follows:
Tiebreaker #1 – the participant casting votes in the greater number of Contest Polls in the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest will be awarded the prize.
Tiebreaker #2 – the participant with the greater number of correct picks for the Survivor voted out of the Tribe over the course of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-STars Contest will be awarded the prize.
Tiebreaker #3 – the prize will be awarded to the participant picked in a random drawing by the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator.
11. DBSTalk.com and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/) staff members, employees and their immediate families and household members, while eligible to participate, are not eligible to win prizes. Employees of Mark Burnett Productions, CBS, and CBS affiliates also are not eligible to win prizes. Participants who fall under these conditions are required to inform the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator of their status before entering the Contest.
12. The DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest will be conducted entirely online at DBSTalk.com. Weekly Contest entries will only be accepted when submitted online at DBSTalk.com. Once votes are cast in the polls, they cannot currently be changed, so vote carefully!
13. DBSTalk.com is not responsible for weather incidents (such as ice storms) or any other acts of God that may prevent the participants from entering. DBSTalk.com and the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator are not responsible for entry errors or for transmission errors.
14. DBSTalk.com is in no way responsible for any problems, technical malfunctions or traffic congestion on the Internet or on the DBSTalk.com web site which may limit entries into the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars contest. In the event of a database failure within the DBSTalk.com web site resulting in a loss of entries for any given week, the game will continue from a backup source file. After the database is restored, any votes entered after the backup point and before restoration will need to be reentered. If such an event occurs, full details of procedure will be provided in the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest forum.
15. By entering the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars contest, participants release DBSTalk.com and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/) from liability for any technical malfunction of prizes awarded, and for any damage and/or injury incurred from prizes. Prize winners agree to allow DBSTalk.com to use their name and or likeness on DBSTalk.com and/or in advertisements. Winners will provide DBSTalk.com a photograph (preferably digital) of themselves with their prize.
16. Any attempt by a participant to deliberately damage the DBSTalk.com web site or the Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/) web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, DBSTalk.com and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/) reserve the right to seek damages from the offending participant to the fullest extent of the law.
17. Contest void where prohibited by law.
How to Enter Each Week:
1. Participants will vote in polls posted in the DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars forum each week. Each correct vote will be worth a set number of points announced when the poll is posted. The participant with the most points at the end of the Survivor: All-Stars season will be the winner of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest. If a poll question is rendered invalid by events that occur in the show, the DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator will make the decision as to score the poll.
2. During the course of play, Bonus Polls worth varying numbers of points may be added at the discretion of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator.
3. Polls will be posted one day after the airing of the week’s Survivor: All-Stars episode in the DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars Contest forum.
4. Weekly DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars polls will close at or after 12:00 Midnight Eastern Time the day before the weekly Survivor: All-Stars episode airs on CBS. Participants are encouraged to cast their votes early, not waiting until the last minute. The DBSTalk.com clock will be used as the official time for the Contest.
5. Once the polls have closed, voting is closed. The DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator will not accept late entries, or vote changes after the polls have closed. If a player fails to cast their votes before the polls close, their votes will not be accepted for that week. If a player casts a vote incorrectly, and does not inform the DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator prior to the polls closing, that vote will not be changed.
6. Poll votes are stored in the DBSTalk.com database. If a player thinks the cast vote was different than the vote stored in the database for a particular poll, the vote in the database will be used. If a player thinks that (s)he cast votes in all of the polls for a week, and the database shows that (s)he did not cast votes in one or more polls, only the votes in the database will be used. The DBSTalk Survivor: All-Stars Contest Coordinator will not accept late votes that are not in the database.
7. Weekly DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest results will be updated and posted on the DBSTalk.com Survivor: All-Stars Contest Official Web Site (http://survivor.dbstalk.com/) on or before the second day after the airing of the week’s Survivor: All-Stars episode. Players will not be notified of weekly results via any other method.
