Just a quick question on the OTA antenna requirements for the 921. I purchased a little set top antenna for the 921 and am wondering if its good enough. When I go into dish pointing and set to ota, then there is a spot for channel number,, I get no locks till I get up to channel 9 which I then get anywhere from 87 to 113. Signal locks,, then done. I go to local channels and do a scan DTV, it finds the station I want and those stations also show up in the guide. I change to 8-01 and it plays for about a minute then it drops the channel and shows cant aquire signal- channel up or down, which I then go to 8-02 then 8-03. They play then drop and I cant get them anymore unless I go through the whole process again. Is this part of the OTA bug or is it the antenna ? Just trying to find out so I can buy a bigger attic antenna if I need too (hate to drill more holes to run cables though). I would think that if the signal strength is up above 80 consistently, it doesnt drop below that,,that the antenna is okay . Thoughts ? advice ?

Sounds like the OTA bug.

gosh dang it,, was so hoping to watch the ball game in HD. Wonder what the odds are of the fix being released today/tonight ? Ahh well, what can you do ? I still dont regret getting it, knew there were bugs when I bought it.

If you had gotton a better antenna, you most likely wouldn't be getting hit with the OTA bug as badly. If the signal is jumping from 87 to 113, that's a sign that you've got some multipath issues that the current 921 software isn't going to handle well.

That is more than likely true Mark, thought I would save a little and see if it would work.

So if the 921 out of the box has better OTA reception than a 6000, it will be better yet after the software update gets installed??

Depending on the station, I'm seeing between 3 and 5 points better SS than I saw with L142.
