View Full Version : pssible directv price increase
This sounds like an awful large increase(if its true)http://www.dbsforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=33780
Why arent the diretv folks whineing as loud as the e* folks? This increase appears to be quite a bit larger.

I guess because our provider isn't out there with the cable pig commercials at the same time as a modest rate increase, as well as getting restraining orders to force their will on the content providers. It is a business. You can't have your cake and eat it too as the other company's subscribers seem to think they can have.

BTW, does anyone proof their posts before hitting the submit button?

To add to what Karl said:
The large amount of people whining about E* rate increases reflects the overall dissatisfaction of Dish Network subscribers in general. If people like a particular product or service a lot, usually they're willing to pay a bit more for it. It goes to this simple economic principle - people will continue to pay for a good or service until the amount of money they're shelling out for it is greater than their preceived value of it. In other words, people will continue to pay more until the value of the service is lower than the amount of money they're paying. This tells me that some Echostar subs don't believe the value of their service is equal to the money they're paying very month.
I don't mind the increase as I feel that D* is providing a good service at a reasonable price. Until that changes, I'll stick with DirecTV.
BTW... one of Dan's posts over at DBSForums seems to indicate more core channels coming to the 119 location. Looks like my round dish will need to get replaced soon.

The main reason why I was mad about the increase with Dish was the cable the pig campaign came out last month and now their increase next month. Add to that the loud argument about the Turner /Viacom providers asking for more money and Dish going to court to stop Viacom from dropping their programming and you have a good receipe for Hypocrisy.
So AEP is going up 3.00 because ESPN asked for more money . That's what I am hearing . I have seen no real channel increases this last year on AEP with the addition of REALITY TV and the new BINGO channel which I can't sub to ,nor do I want to, in Texas or Arkansas. I think the people who sub to AEP are paying the price for the top 50/60 subs who can't see an increase till Jan of 2005.
Dish has gone up every year now for the last 3 years. I started paying 69.99 for this pack in 99 or 00 and now it has gone up 3 times now to 77.99 /82.99 w locals. That's an 8.00 increase in the last 4 years.
Who is the Pig now Charlie?
