the installer changed out to a quad lnb and added a sw44 switch and some inline thing on the feed to the 811. my other receivers are a 4922 and a PVR-501.. is there another way to do this, so that i can connect my OTA antenna to the switch also? they said they had to do this because of my legacy 4922. thanks..

Can you be a little more specific on your equipment it dosen't make a lot of sense? Try www.switchinfo.info/index.htm it may help you identify equipment so we can help you.

sorry. i had a DISH500 (i think with internal sw42/legacy twin?) with a 4922 and PVR501. today they added my 811. they changed out my legacy twin with a legacy quad, connected all 4 lines to SW44 and 2 out to 501/4922. the 3rd out goes to some inline deal to my 811. i'd like to put my OTA antenna in the attic and connect to a switch also so i can diplex it out to all tv's. seems like a 5x4 would work. i have read over the link you sent me a couple of times. maybe i should get dish to replace my 4922 with a 301. then i would get a non-legacy lnb and regular switch? i don't know

What stupid installers !

All they REALLY needed to do was swap in the Legacy Quad (no SW44 AT ALL).

Forget about using a 5x4 multiswitch with that Quad - it CAN'T be done. What you will need to do is get a pair of diplexors for each TV that you want to have both, and a 1-to-x splitter for the antenna. There's nothing wrong with using your 4900, and going to the 301 won't buy you anything unless you change everything to DishPro (and this assumes your RG6 coax is up to DishPro).

Legacy Quad lines go into surge blocks, then straight into the house to either a diplexor or straight to receiver.. 1 line left unconnected ( i only have 3 rec.) i think i remember her saying that is one reason i needed the SW44 to terminate the 4th line, it had to be connected to something. what about the inline thingy for the 811? thanks for your insight..

Still sounds fishy to me - but I'd defer to someone with actual experiance with a Legacy Quad for final. If the installer was putting in a SW44, there was no need to install a QUAD, so it still doesn't make sense to me.

The guess is they put in a Dish Pro Twin with a DP-34 switch and then put in a Dish Pro adapter for the 4900. That would make sense with the receivers the customer has. The customers description of equipment added dosen't make sense so as long as the system is working I would just assume it is an uneducated customer describing the equipment poorly. If it is Dish Pro the diplexers would have to pass frequencies up to 2100mhz.

i have a DISH 500 with a legacy quad all 4 lines go into a surge block (outside) then into the SW44 (powered) then 2 lines out to 4922 and PVR501. the 3rd line goes into an inline thing to the 811. the 4th is not connected. i do know what they installed. i guess i'll just diplex the OTA into the lines to where i want to un-diplex. should it go between the in-line thing and the switch or does it matter

DO NOT try to diplex on line 1 coming out of the SW44 !!! Any of the others should be alright, but I wouldn't diplex #1 for anything. Swap positions with the other receivers if you have to.

Line 1 output is where you should feed the power insertor that powers the SW44. If in fact your 811 is on this line - move it before you put the diplexors in.

TO be perfectly blunt, if I wanted optimum OTA reception, I wouldn't use the diplexors at all - go with a dedicated OTA cable of RG6 as well. Then you don't have to worry about which line your 811 is on, and you won't have any DTV OTA issues caused by the diplexors.

the 811 was indeed installed on line1 with the power inverter, i moved it to another line and put my 4922 on line1 with the power inverter.. i will only be diplexing lines 2/3 for the OTA... i wish i didn't have to have this SW44 in my attic with a power brick... that is what i'd like to get rid of.
