Has anyone been able to upgrade from an exisitng DP 301 to a DP 322? I have been told by dish that the 322 is only available for new customers. I currently have 4 301s and want to upgrade one to a DVR 510 and one to a 322. My thought was that I could offset the DVR fee ($5) by getting a 322 since there is no additional tuner charge with a dual tuner receiver, while giving me the ability to have 5 separate signals.
As a side note technical question for the 322, is it possible to use a multiswitch before the 322. My thought is that it would give me my split for the 2 tuners out of one cable run.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
322's are for new digital home plan customers only.....with a limit of 2 boxes or a total of 4 tuners per household....also must be connected to phone line or additional $4.99 per month charge.....as for your multi switch question, no it has to have two uninterrupted lines from the dish using a quad lnb or sw-34

Thanks for the help. My hope is that Dish will allow their existing DHP customers to upgrade to a 322 sometime in the near future. I do currently have a dish 500 with a quad lnb for my existing 4 recievers. With that being said do I still need a sw-34 to split one of those lines?
Again thanks for the help
I'm not sure what you are trying to do with the sw-34. Heres how they work. They can take signal from 3 satellite locations and feed to 4 receivers, or 4 tuners which would be 2 model 322's. Since you have a quad lnb you already are doing the purpose of the sw-34, unless your trying to get a third satellite location to your receivers. If your idea is to take a quad lnb and make it feed more than 4 receivers, than no that does not work. You would have to cascade switches for that idea.

I am looking into adding a 5th tuner to my existing setup. Based on your response I need to cascade switches. Does it have to be done with an sw-34, or can it be any type of a multiswitch.
If you are in DHP, Dish will only allow up to 4 receivers or 4 tuners.
You can buy additional receivers but you can only rent 4 receivers under DHP so yes you can use 2 leads off the quad into a DP-34 switch and have a total of 6 output ports for receivers. If you buy additional receivers they are also covered under the DHP service contract so you can benefit from DHP but you do have to part with your own money for the additional receivers.

Since I am not very familiar with how the DP-34 switch works, why is that 2 leads have to go into the switch in order to split the signal further?
1 Lead carries 119 the other carries the signal from 110.

Thanks for the info. I have attatched a diagram for How I believe I can get (and would like) my 5 tuner setup. Can you take a look and let me know if I am missing anything. Thanks in advance.

Close - there will be 2 cables going from the Dishpro Quad LNB to the 2 tuner receiver, not just one.
Another way to do this would be to use a Dishpro TWIN LNB, and then use 2 SW34 switches. But either way should be fine for use.
