I don't have a PVR, but they sure sound good. What are the price ranges on these things?

Dishplayer - out of production but you can get them for under $200 on Ebay

501 - $199 if you agree for 1 year of credit card autopay and AT150 or above

DirecTiVo - $99 or less

I dont know the pricings for SA TiVos, UTV or Replay, sorry

Steve,

Here is pricing for Ultimatetv:

70-hour UTV (RCA DWD 495): $279
35-Hour UTV (Sony w/keyboard): $49 after rebate for current subs and free for new subs.

see www.ultimatetv.com for details about Ultimatetv.
see www.orbitsat.com, or www.minidishes.tv for pricing (these are just two of many online vendors).

Bowling for Soup, PVR isn't cheap. I have a DISHPlayer, which was free, but the PVR costs $9.99 a month so I don't pay it. I also have PVR ability on my computer - through a $199 video card (you need a TV tuner or a video input for a satellite/digital cable receiver, as well as a card offering hardware MPEG2 (not truly necessary, but given my 950MHz Athlon has a 70% CPU load in PVR WITH hardware iDCT, I wouldn't want to know the CPU load without it. You'd need like a Athlon XP 2100+. PVR on your PC takes so much processing power because you must encode MPEG2, save to hard disk, read from hard disk, and decode MPEG2 all at the same time). In fact, the pure processing power needed for PVR is why it costs so much in general.

I feel like the lone man in the wilderness having UTV!

In light of the new polling forum I'm reopening this one. For those of you who have already voted and have added a 508 or 721 to your set ups, please make a post saying so and one of the mods will change you vote to reflect you additions.

I'm glad to see that there are quite a few DirecTiVos out there... :D

James, there are two DirecTiVos here, but they're kept company by a 501 and a standalone TiVo.

A replay 2003, first generation, and a replay 3030, each recently upgraded to 160 gigs.

Plus two DirecTivos, upgrades to come.
