I have a roof antenna for my local stations and one dish network receiver for other channels. In the past, I had it setup to feed both the antenna and the dish network signal to my living room tv, and then either antenna or the dish reciever RF out went to the other sets in the house. This provided a good dish picture to the other sets but had limited flexibility. So a few months ago, I bought a multiplexer from a satellite TV hardware place for $10 (very cheap). I feed the RF out from the dish reciever and the antenna feed into the multiplexer. The output from the multiplexer is then sent to the rest of the house. I get my dish signal on channel 3, and my local channels at their regular positions on the dial (2, 4, 11, etc.). I really like the flexibility of this system, but the picture from the dish receiver on channel 3 is less than first rate. Most of my other sets display just a little snow or some moving lines.. annoying, but watchable. One of the sets appears to be worse at rejecting adjacent channel interference and the picture on channel 3 is so distorted that it's almost unwatchable.
Here's my question: Is this the fault of a cheap multiplexer? Does anyone have a better quality multiplexer they can recommend that would minimize these problems?
