View Full Version : what switchs/combiners can be used with 921?
If you have a dishpro quad lnbf on a dish 500 sending two cables to a 921, and want to add another dish at 148 or 61.5, does the lnbf in the 148 have to be "dishpro"? Can you use an old sw21 switch to combine the 119/110 and 148 cables for one of the feeds to the 921? Sorry for the dumb question, but I can only purchase equipment from the internet and don't often see postings here of what you "can't do", and have no one else to ask. I know a two dish setup is old hat for most, but it has never been something I've been interested in until the 921 came out and I'd just as soon make use of some of the old dish 300's, dual and twin lnbfs and switches that I have laying around if they can be used.
With Dish Pro you can only use Dish Pro you cannot mix Legacy switches or LNBs. If all you want is to add 148 to two feeds going to a 921 the easiest method is a DP single on a dish300 feeding into a DP-34 switch that's $198 at DISH's suggested retail. It can also be done with a DP single to a DP splitter then to 2 DP-21 switches about $140 MSRP. very messy wiring job though.
Thank you very much - that clears up a lot of my questions, Mark Lamutt informed me that the 921 has to receive two identical feeds - I did not understand that before, so it is obvious that I will need to purchase some new Dishpro equipment - 34 switch, and at least a dishpro single lnbf - though I suppose my old JVC 300 dish will be usable. Since I am not in any market, and qualify for distant locals, perhaps I qualify for a free equipment upgrade to receive CBS HD, though I believe I read that the free upgrade if for those who receive locals, it seems that someone in my situation would qualify as well.
