View Full Version : Is BINGO TV in the EPG yet?
Hi,
I was wondering if channel 104, Bingo TV is available or in the EPG. I have a Dish 500 dish and 2 Dish 301 receiver units. I live in one of the states (MD) where the Bingo TV is permitted.
I ask because I was visiting http://ekb.dbstalk.com/dishlist.htm, and next to the notation for CH-104, there is a note that reads:"EPG info: Play Bingo TV Wednesdays 9-11PM ET." But, then there is a refrence to footnote 1, which says:"(1) Channel shows on Lyngsat.com or other reliable satellite scans, but not available to regular subscribers."
Thank you for your time.

nope (not as of this morning)
The old 5000 goes from 103 to 105..It will probably be activated on 2/4 (the day it actually goes live)

Thanks. That's what both of my 301s do - go from from 103 (PPV Guide) to 105 (USA Network).

I don't think Bingo TV starts until the 4th.

The thing is only on for 1 hour a month, isn't it?

Um, just to note it, several people have already said that they've seen it being broadcast on 104 during the normal times that they said it would be. They appear to be test shows. But, in any case, they said it was there -- even for "mere mortals." :)

Two hours a week.
You would think that they would at least post a slate there saying "Tune In Wednesday" ...
For now all we get are the moron ads, and Charlie Chat reruns. If the channel isn't there when it is advertised, viewers may not expect it to be there when it is active.

To me Bingo TV is a waste of a channel, but especially if it's only going to be on 2 hours a week. What makes it worse is that Dish has stuck it in the main group of channels. At best it should be in with the shopping channels. There are definitely other channels that could be put on 104 that people have asked for instead of this waste of channel space.

It sure gets alot of attention for a channel that "no one cares about."

Agreed. It's only wasting one line of the EPG, and certainly focuses the attention away from E*'s other problems. The bandwidth used for BingoTV's video is used for E* internal feeds at other times.

My question is why??? Does Dish expect to pull up roots and move to another state just because Bingo TV is blacked out in our area?
Why not just have it not be listed in the EPG in area's where it is blacked out?

It is easier for them.

Blacked out in area vs. not listing, I don't buy it. I'd expect it just a flag that the receiver looks at to know whether it is listed or not.

I disagree. But then I've seen a little more under the hood.

It's listed on my 921's EPG. 'be still my beating heart ...
'not even blacked out, even though I'm in Oregon.
