What is the difference between a DP301 A DP311 Dish Network receiver?

The DP311 has the smartcard integrated on the circuit board in the receiver. As far as I know, that's it.

311 also has 8PSK tuning. Right now it's useless because it's a SD receiver but it has been speculated that a far distant receiver swap could happen in order to eliminate QPSK and free up space on the satellites.

I have a 311, the best thing I like about it is it has more memory. If your looking in the guide you don't constantly get "downloading satellite guide" or what ever it says.

I love my 311 alot better than my 301 I had.

A little off subject, but since epg memory was mentioned I have found lately and frequently when I go to the epg on my 301.10 I am getting the downloading satellite guide box again, not as often as before the software upgrade but it still happens.

All 301 models were supposed to be upgraded with instant 46-hour guide last year.

Bob Do you ever turn it off? If you do it will download the guide and you wont get that pesky download message as often

Turn it off every night, the message is not as frequent as it used to be but it still happens, the data does download quicker than before, but I am getting it at least once a day

I think the 311 has more memory than the 301 receivers but the 301 receivers are supposed to be able to load the guide without delay most of the time unless it is downloading it for the day, it only requires a download once.
