I was just curious if anyone here subscribes to both dish network and directv at the same time? I was thinking about doing that myself and getting the best of both worlds.

I do!

I recently dumped my Dishplayer 7100 and 501 for two DirecTivos with a triple LNB dish. With DirecTV I subscribe to Total Choice+ and locals.

I also have a DishNetwork 6000 hooked up to a Dish 500 for HDTV. I subscribe to the HD pack only ($10.00) and pay a $5.00 access fee.

The good thing about Dish Network is that you can take movie packages or locals or other channels without having to take the basic package although there is an extra $5 charge for doing so. With DirecTv you MUST take the basic package in which is higher than Dish Network's by $10 to take any other programming.

I do myself:
- TC+ w/Chicago locals, w/HBO & Showtime from D*
- Denver local pak w/NY & LA distants & SS from E*.

Unfortunately, if the Denvers all move to spot beam, then I'll have to re-evaulate my E* line-up... :( :(
