I decided to switch back to Dish Network from cable. I installed my Dish and LNB and a Dish PVR 508. Now I can't find Echostar 110 West. The skew and elevation is correct according to Dish 500 Installation screen. I can find 119 with no problem. The LNB is a DishPro 500 with the one large LNB and two outputs. Am I doing something wrong this time or is my LNB bad?

You performed your own dish installation? In my experience, this type of issue with a new installation, 99% of the time, it's nothing wrong with the LNB, rather it's usually some other part of the installation which is at fault. In this case, the dish is probably not properly aimed.

A common problem with the Dish 500 is picking up the wrong signal on the wrong head, which is to say that you can wind up receiving 119 on the 110 head (or conversely, 110 on the 119 head). In such a case, you will never be able to find the other satellite without re-aiming. You will likely need to check and adjust your elevation, and aim slightly to the left (when standing behind the dish).

You're exactly right. 119 is showing up in 110's slot on the switch test page. I just realized that 119 should be in the first slot, not the 2nd. Thanks!

The easiest thing to help you get this correct -

tape some aluminum foil over the 110 (right) side of your TWIN. Put your cable on the LEFT HAND side of the LNB

NOW, go aim the dish for 119. Don't mess with the skew (i.e. set it and forget it)

Once 119 is locked in, pull the foil off. 110 should be VERY close (assuming the correct skew is set). Once 110 and 119 both have a signal - run a Check Switch.

Call Dish to activate and enjoy TV and a cold one :)

I can certinaly identify with this problem. I had it when I installed my first Twin LNB (replacing a single LNB). I wasn't smart enough to think of the aluminum foil trick, so I used my single LNB in the 119 side of the adapter to figure it out. Even that took me two tries as I was confused as to which side was which!

Later I decided to get a DishPro Twin instead and there I had the problem of certain channels missing. That turned out to be the old surge suppressor which didn't have enough bandwidth to handle the stacked signal from the DishPro Twin.

Install Complete! Comedy Central without static or noise! I had the dish on the side of the house, but elected to go all out and just do the roof thing. Tomorrow I will route the wiring as to be attractive. I will be adding a Dish 301 receiver to another room tomorrow also. Will just utilize existing wiring, as I installed it anyway (using compression connecters (thomas and betts SNS) and Times Fiber T10 non messengered RG6 to wall plates).
