Using Event Timers with Tivo (Philips)

I know event timers are meant to work with VCRs. I was curious if anyone has successfully setup Tivo to work with event timers. Is there a VCR code that will make Tivo work with this feature??

Yes, the TiVo has a method to set up manual recordings that can be set for one time only or repeating daily or weekly. If you have one, check the manual.

Are you talking about the VCR Plus codes? It's not necessary because all you need to do is spell out the channel or check the channel program listings. The guide has up to 14 days of program information (although some channels will vary).

I have a Tivo without subscription, so it does not have a program guide. Manual recording is cumbersome. I was hoping that the dish recevier can trigger Tivo to begin recording like it does for VCRs using the Event Timer feature in 4900s. That way, I can browse for programs on the Dish program guide and select the programs I would like to record on Tivo.

I think they are referred to as VCR code, which allow the Dish receiver to control the VCRs (by blasting IR signals that trigger recording on the VCR). The manual has codes for most VCRs, but not DVRs. I would think that DVRs might also have similar capabilities, but I don't know what code might work with Tivo or ReplayTV.

I have a Tivo that is not subscribed to the programming gudie (older model where subscription was not required). I can record shows on Dish using Manual recording by noting the time and channel on Dish guide, but that takes too long. Dish receiver has Event timer feature where it can a) tune to a particular channel when the event begins and/or b) prompt the VCR to start recording the show. I want to make this work with Tivo.

To the best of my limited knowledge, the Dish receiver cannot control the TiVo. Sorry.
