I am looking to buy a really cheap Dish Network box, with card (w/no balance) so I can subscribe to their Superstations pack.

I don't care if the box looks like crap, it can be missing the card door, I don't even need a remote, just a receiver that works, with an access card w/$0.00 on it. (and fairly low shipping)

I hope someone who has an extra that is just collecting dust can set me up with a good deal.

Just send me a private message.

Thanks,
Morgan

Well, not so cheap, I don't mean like only $5 for the box... I just don't want to fork out $99+tax at Wal-Mart for 5 channels. Still looking for an offer.. :-/ But again, it could be below garage sale quality, as long as it has a clean card and can operate..

Thanks!

I've seen model 1000s with card and remote sell for $5 on eBay. So you could get one for $5 if so inclined :)

Yes but look at how much they want for shipping and handeling, a bit more than that. You have to watch the shipping and handeling costs.

Unfortuniately that is true. I almost bought a 1 cent 10 foot cable that cost $17 to ship via USPS Parcel Post. (forgot what kind of cable but it was something for the computer) Sellers do this because they dont have to pay eBay fees on the shipping.

Well the $5 model 1000 off the eBay would still probably be cheaper even if they charge atrocious shipping.

Either way I think the original poster has left or got a receiver or something.

I suppose one could find a receiver without a card for pretty cheap but you would have to buy one from dish which is $50. You need to make sure the receiver does not have a balance on it.

Another reason they charge so much for shipping is to lead people to believe the price of the item is real cheap but make up for some if not all of it on the shipping and HANDELING cost. I am surprised that Ebay has not made it in their rules to not overcharge on shipping but then they could charge extra on handeling but Ebay could also make them include handeling costs in the price of the item.

Some would end up saying that people should know enough to look at the price of shipping and handeling to figure up the total cost, but I think it would be nice to be able to do a price search to compare the FINAL price of the items after shipping and handeling costs.

Just for fun I searched eBay...

This one is at bid for $11 with 4 days left. $10 shipping. Includes card and remote. Assuming the bid does not bloat too high and there's no card balance then it's a pretty good buy for just getting the superstations.
