Hey all,

I have 3 HD receievrs hooked up to an SW64 switch: 2 - 6000U and 1-921. I had been using each of these receivers with small set-top antennas, and then decided to get an external (square shooter) to drive all three receivers. Each of these receivers has been successfully working for off air digitals as well as satellite with no problem.

When I got the 921 I moved one of the 6000Us to the BR and didn't intially hook up the of air antenna. Today I tried adding off air antenna signal from the square shooter and it works great for 1 on the 6000Us and the 921. No issues there. However, the other 6000U will NOT display any off air digitals. When I scan, 0 findings. I checked my set top antenna as well and no go there either - even though it had worked a few weeks ago.

Anyway, here is where the frustration REALLY begins. I called dish tech support  and after an hour of confirming that I had everything hooked up correctly and a few hard reboots, etc., they claim there is NOTHING wrong with the 6000U, because it will scan and display analog off-air OK. I have since tried numerous ways to get an off air digital signal - which ALL work for the other receivers, and still NOTHING on the problematic 6000U. In fact, if I try to turn to an off air digital previously stored, it freezes and reboots every time.

I am pretty certain that the problem is with the hardware, but they won't accept this. I have tried evrything I can think of. Has anyone else had a similar issue? The other thing that I thought was significant was that this was the line out with the power inserter. They say that has NO relevance.
ARGHH!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

If possible switch one of the connections that work to the 6000u that isn't working. If it works it is of course something wrong with your setup. If it Doesn't COMPLAIN to DISH.

I have had my OA module's antenna port go bad, was under warranty so it didn't cost me anything to have it replaced.

Thanks for the posts gents.

After swapping out my good performing 6000U with the problematic one, and still having the difficulty locking in off-air digitals, I ALSO realized that the optical audio out was not working either (hadn't utilized it in the BR).

For info to any others who may have similar probs in the future, the symptoms are:

If unplug from wall for more than about 20 minutes and then plug in and MANUALLY add digitals, all is well for about 2 minutes of watching a channel. Then, it mysteriously loses the signal (completely) for all off-air stations and they can't be found by re-adding them in the setup either. If I try to turn to an off air channel, it frequently locks up or re-boots.

Allow to sit idle for a while, come back and it re-traces same steps.

After I PROVED that it was the hardware by swapping with my other 6000U and after another 20 minutes on the phone, they agreed to send a new one. I realize that some people are calling in to tech support without a clue, but it makes those of us who know their tech pretty frustrated when they don't want to believe that there could actually be something wrong! Oh well, at least it is being resolved.
