I'm currently trying to upgrade my system from dual SW21s to a Microyal SW64. I just received my 921 and need one additional line for my 6000. I have both a 500 and 300 dish. The lnbs on the 500 were changed from twin to a quad. Everything went very easy till I tried to test each receiver. Neither receiver would see the new switch. I was able to run check switch on the 6000 a few times but nothing. I double and triple checked all the connections. I gave up and hooked up my two SW21 and both receiver work, well not at the same time :) The only thing I noticed was the power inverter did get warm to the touch, the switch did not.

Can I conclude that I have a bad switch or is there other tests I can run ?

Thanks for any help,

Ken

I am far from an expert so don't take my info. to the bank, but one possible problem would be if when you changed your twins to quads, I believe they still have to be legacy lnb's not dishpro's. I think only legacy lnb's are compatible with a sw64.....GOOD LUCK

You cannot use a SW-64 with a TWIN or A QUAD it dosen't make any difference wether it is Legacy or Dish Pro. You must have three DUAL LNBFs to use a SW-64. If you had a TWIN and SW-21 the Dish 300 has a DUAL LNBF on it you will need two more of them to make the system work.

That is what I have. The 300 has a dual and the 500 was upgraded to two duals.

I would verify that the power inserter is going in on reciever cable 1, perhaps they got switched around.

Go TO www.switchinfo.info/index.htm see if that helps you with at least your terminology. In you first post you said you had a QUAD.

I have mine hooked up this way, and this configuration is officially supported. I have a dish branded SW64 though. This configuration would not be an economical way to go though, unless you already have a legacy quad, and need to add a third sat.

You need to make sure that both the outputs on the 119 side of the legacy quad are connected to inputs 1a/1a. And that both the outputs on the 110 side are connected to inputs 2a/2b.

Thank you for the correction. I missed used the term Quad. I had a twin which was replaced with two duals. I must of thought two dual was the same as a Quad, my bad.

I know the power inverter is going to cable 1. I didn't realize that the outputs on the 119 side needed to be connected to inputs 1a/1a, and that both the outputs on the 110 side connected to inputs 2a/2b. I'll check that out.

Thanks for the help,

Why in the world would you want to waste a legacy quad, when legacy dual lnb's are so cheap?

Why in the world would you want to waste a legacy quad, when legacy dual lnb's are so cheap?Considering that used legacy quads go for about $50 on ebay, and legacy duals go for about $15-20 each, it would probably be a wash to try to purchase two legacy duals, and sell an existing legacy quad.

On the other hand, two more duals could be purchased for $30-40. However, there would be no reason to go out and buy these when the existing setup works fine.
