Surge Supressor question

I have a dual LNB with both coax going into a multiswitch. Three cables out of the multi switch, two to a DTVtivo and one to another to a RCA DTV reciever. I have purchased a Radio Shack coax surge supressor with two coax inputs and two outputs, one marked DSS and one marked Cable TV. Can I put this supressor in series before the multiswich directly out of the LNB's and still get a signal out of the multiswich to the recievers to get full surge protection? Or does it have to be put in series after the multiswitch? Also, will the coax input/output marked cable tv work the same as the one marked DSS?

You will have to try it to find out the cable input may not be voltage passing so you could lose functionality on that side.
