View Full Version : What is the best HD Quality you have seen on a monitor?
I install alot of HD TVs, Out Boxes for off air, Dish Network, and DirecTV. The best yet is a toss up between a Toshiba 65 inch and a Sony VEGA.
I'll take my 34" over any rear projection tv.

Generally this type of discussion is between the Sony KF-xxWE610 (the Grand Wega III) and the Samsung HLNxx DLP sets, in terms of televisions which do not suffer from burn in. Obviously if one doesn't care about burn-in, there are other options available as well.

My 17" computer monitor beats the pants off all the above TV's when it comes to PQ, resolution, etc, but I'll stick to my latest baby: The 2HD projector, nothing beats a 110" diagonal picture (except maybe a 120") ;-)

My notebook has a widescreen 15.7" 1900x1200 native resolution lcd. Windows Media 9 playing HD content is the best I have seen. Amazing picture quality.

I have owned this set for app. 2 years now and the picture quality is excellent. PBS broadcasts an HD signal on one of their sub-channels here in Houston and my reception of the OTA signal is so clear you almost feel you could reach inside the screen and touch the objects that appear.
Satellite HD is also very good on this unit. Boxing in HD on both HBO and Showtime is a real pleasure to watch. Football and basketball in HD via the OTA antenna is also quite good.

Nope, for the best picture quality you need a quality HD front projector. These projectors run $3,000 to $5,000 (don't buy a cheap Best Buy $1,000 projector). With the DVI input, they easily beat Plasma or any other "monitor". No burn in either. PLUS, you don't have that ugly, bulky 65" box in your family room. Install the projector on the ceiling, install an electric 110" screen from the ceiling on the other side of room, and you now have the best HD home theater system available. And when your done watching, turn off the projector, the screen automatically rolls into the ceiling, and now everyone says "oh, I see you don't own a TV". Right! Ok, sure it's more expensive, but "oooooo" what a difference in picture quality and. then, not having an ugly bulky unit in your famly room or living room. Today, you want to hide your televisions, not display them.

Sony, while good, is overpriced. Toshiba is just as good and costs less. From what I've seen of Panasonic, they appear to be catching up quickly to Sony and Toshiba. I have a 4 yr old Toshiba 4 x 3 HD set and it is a great set. I also receive PBS-HD and the picture is incredible. PBS is doing the best out of any broadcasters so far, in my opinion.

Where did you get the HD content? Or do you have an HD Capture card?
Where did you get the HD content? Or do you have an HD Capture card? You can download HD videos straight from Microsoft here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/content_provider/film/ContentShowcase.aspx). Bewarned, if you don't have a 2.5+ GHz processor, don't even bother.
