I Am New And Am Thinking About Getting Dish. I Have Heard Some Of The Receivers Are Slow With Their Epg Guides, Etc. Can Anyone Tell Me Which Recievers Are The Best As Far As Having The Sleeker Menu Appearance And Which Ones Are Faster With The Guides. I Dont Want To Get One That Is Slow And Takes 2 Minutes To Access The Interactive Menus And 5 Seconds Just To Go From One Channel To The Other. Thanks.

My 508 is fine as well as 301. 811 is not slow, it just doesn't go past an hour. Channels are fine, it only takes a split second to come up. 508 goes for a while, maybe 7 days or close to it. 301, I have only gone into the next day.

Is The Interactive Menus, (weather ) Fast Too On Those Recievers?

Your TV is also a factor in how long it takes to change channels. When I changed from my Toshiba 36" tube to the Hitachi rear projection, the time it took to lock on to the channel went from about 1/2 second to 2 seconds. Some TVs just take longer to lock onto the signal.

I had a 501 at that time. My 510 and 921 pull up the EPG and changes channels in about 1/2 second.

The interactive and weather channel has to download info from the data stream, so it takes 5 to 10 seconds.
