Had Direct TV, then cable and yesterday VOOM. You have to see the new channel HD News/Weather. 61 inch Samsung DLP shows the most incredible photo like images you have ever seen. Discovery HD program displayed images more brilliant than in real life. Had a problem with installer that couldn't get signal so he left after 3 hours. My wife called Voom and within 30 minutes we were up and running. Why couldn't the installer do that is beyond us. Programing guide displays your current picture on screen while you surf. (wife's favorite feature) HD recorder coming this Spring. Voom's customer assistance (I have called about 4 times with questions) has been more than helpful and friendly. I wasn't crazy about spending a grand on 2 receivers and equipment, but $39.95 per month including local channels is not too bad. I wouldn't badmouth Voom until you personally see the picture quality and the unique programing they have to offer vs. the same ol, same ol on the other sats. True, this is a company that is just starting off. It will be at least a year before they get some kinks worked out. When you live on the edge of technology you have to step out of the box and take a few licks. My neighbor has direct tv on a 65 inch Mitsubishi Diamond HD. He has over 10 grand invested in his entire system (audio - video) and so do I. I can beyond a shadow of a doubt guarantee my picture BLOWS him away. No contest! No to mention the exclusive Voom programing I have that he doesn't. Don't knock it before youv'e tried it.............

"but $39.95 per month including local channels is not too bad" -that price doesn't include locals. they are free OTA where available, and are not available in HD or digital to alot of us. :)

You should see DiscoveryHD at 110" from a 720P front projector, it is mind boggling! I really want VOOM but am holding out for their PVR and a good deal for my State, but it looks like they are hiking their price to $49 next month, so I probably won't go with them unless they come up with an HD only deal for less money (I don't watch any SD programming).

Dave, can you get me a couple pieces of info?

The Disney and Nickelodeon channels - are they just the East Coast versions or do they have both East and West similar to what Dish Network has?

I don't understand why you had to spend a grand? I just signed up for $0, $9.50/month lease for equipment, and $39/month programming with no increase until 2005.
