DirecTV Latin America said it has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The company, a unit of Hughes and sister company to DirecTV in the United States, filed for Chapter 11 in March 2003. The filing applied only to the U.S. entity and did not include any operating companies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
"DirecTV Latin America is now on a solid footing for the future," said Larry Chapman, president and chief operating officer at DirecTV Latin America. "The company has successfully reorganized under Chapter 11, and I'm very pleased that we have emerged in a timely manner."
