Hi everyone, good news! local channels are coming to #74, the Portland-Auburn Maine (ME) DMA market around April 8th of this year. expect to see this officially announced at one of the next Charlie Chat's or on Dish's press release section of their website. This is all according to Mark Duffy, Executive Offices of DISH Network. :)

That's great! Although I don't live there.

Just another FYI: Chief Engineer at Topeka, KS Fox station said Topeka should be up around April 1-8. It was also printed the 2004 CES packets or whatever. I think Topeka is market #147? Have to wait for the next Charlie Chat.

Does that mean that Bangor is next? Will Dish 500 capture the new locals in Maine or are we facing a second dish?

Thanks,

No, Bangor is not next. And it is probably going to be on 121° so it will require a SuperDISH.

Harlingen / Brownsville / McAllen, TX is currently uplinked and I think is coming next week or the week after.

South Bend Indiana was planned for February, the stations are uplinked and ready to go.

Columbia/Jefferson City, MO locals were supposed to come in February also.

Lincoln, NE locals have been uplined to 148° for close to a month.

See ya
Tony

Mark Duffy now tells me that this will be announced on the next Charlie Chat on Monday, March 8, 2004 at 9:00 PM EST on Channel 101. Bangor is a long time away, he tells me. Maine is lucky to finally get Portland! :)

Yes, it also says that DirecTV is bringing them in April. Which is Not going to happen. So I wouldn't count on the article, it is outdated.

Yeah I have been following the launch of DirecTV 7S very closely. Lucky if Rochester sees them by summer.

Since that article and TV piece was run in the middle of February, I saw no mention of DISH announcing a delay from the March 4 timeframe.

Looks like this will be the first week this year with no market launch or uplink of a new market.

JohnH- Dish is working and planning ahead on the next round of locals, that is why we have seen nothing this week.

I guess South Bend, IN, Columbia, MO and Lincoln, NE were just test cases as in well, let's just throw these up there and see what happens. It sure seems that quite frequently what they tell people in local markets just doesn't happen, like throwing March 4th at the people in Rochester, NY and it ain't even in the system, yet.

remember, you should see this along with other locals being announced Monday on the Charlie Chat.
