I have a 7200 w/ a seagate 17245mb hard drive and am taking a Maxtor Diamondmax16 120gb hd out of a 510pvr to use in the 7200. I assume it should be formatted correctly to just install but I noticed that the jumper on the origional Seagate is set to DS Master and the Maxtor is set to CS Enabled. Can I just change the jumper on the Maxtor to DS Master or should it be ready to go as is out of the 510 PVR? Thx, Adamantium

OK, I just went for it, seems good except it goes only to web tv. I have rescently turned my telephone off in favor of a cell phone so I cannot dial up. I have never used the web tv. Is there anyway around this?

Ouch, did you already load new software onto the old PVR510's hard drive? Was that unit dead? It's VERY difficult to recover this drive for 510 use (you'd need a JTAG programmer to reprogram the EEPROM and Flash in the PVR).
The drive from your 510 is a hard to get OEM drive which is in demand among 501 & 508 hard drive upgraders. If your 510 is dead you might want to go here and try and sell the drive:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dishmod/
(the 50x series PVRs only work with specific drive models)
In this group you'll also find some information on 7200 hard drive upgrades.
Letting the box get the WebTV download is certainly the easiest upgrade, but you can also install both the old and new 7200 drives in a PC and transfer OS and programs from the old drive:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DishPlayer_Explorer/
YOU REALLY NEED TO READ UP in these two newsgroups. The formatting of a 510 drive is completely different then a 7200.
Another thought: The 7200 doesn't need a sat connection to take the download. Visit a friend and ask them to plug your 7200 into the phone line for 45 mins.

Ah, the old hot swap method. A little scary, but seems to work.
I've never tried it. But I believe the overnight download is needed to get the system software written to the hard drive.
