Is the mast for an 18" round dish the exact same as the mast for the triple lnb oval dish?

Ok thanks. That will make the install a bit easier. Is there a good reference for setting the tilt angle based on zip code or latitude?

Any 'PLUS' (2/3 LNB Dtv RCVR) will give you the tilt(skew) setting in the [Dish Pointing] Menu.

If you already have one of these, just tell it you already have an oval dish, and it will give you the tilt angle.

Sounds good. Thanks.

The Phase III dish has a "special" mount that lets you get it exactly PLUMB, so unless the first installer went beyond the call of duty you will HAVE to put the Phase III mount on, it will save you a lot of messing about if you set the skew first by putting your zip code into the receiver then by having the mount PLUMB!!!!!! If its off just a wee bit you will have probs!

The only thing "special" about it is that it comes with a bubble level in the top of it. If you have a normal torpedo level and know how to use it you can accomplish the same thing. OH forgot the mast can swivel a little with the type of bracket inside the mast that the bolts go into. But i do agree that it has to be plumb or it will have signal loss primarally on the 119 sat.

Just had a phase 3 installed tuesday. I think the installer rushed the install a bit because of wind/cold etc. Went from a round dish with 95-99 sig. strength to a 80-85 sig. on the same sat. Question: will the sig. on a 3lnb ever equal the numbers from a round dish?

Reason I asked. We had bookoo rain today here in the Kansas City area, and the pic dropped out with a light drizzle going on. Before it would take a deluge. Our Direcway would always drop out B4 the D*. We haven't lost Dway at all today as of yet.

I may have just answered my own question.......Thanks

Yes it will equal it. If the installer rushed as you said then it is possible that
A. the mast is not level
B. the skew or tilt is set incorrect
C. the dish was not peaked properly IE. in a rush

Most of the ones i upgrade have the same 90 to 98 signal as it did when i arrived. This would be smart to peak it right the first time to save a trip for no reason other than my own incopetence if i rushed the upgrade.

Every Phase III dish I have ever upgraded from a round dish, has been able to get the same or better IRD signal reading.

Yes, cold, rain, ice and height can hamper a 3rd/4th trip back to the dish to tweak it that last little bit.

Call the installer and see if he can stop by on a better day to get you back into the 90's.
