Does anyone know if a standalone TIVO will work with a VOOM receiver for recording SD material? Thanks

Voom is going to offer its own DVR/PVR soon. No use for a TiVo and its extra charges.
Yes, I have heard that a standalone Tivo now works with Voom. I would wait for Voom's new HD DVR. it will be much better than a single tuner Tivo set-up.

I need a Tivo for my Family Room recording from VOOM. SO does it work or not? Will it record without a subscription? I may opt for a Panasonic DMR-E80 DVD recorder instead.

I have a Replay box and a panasonic dmr 30 , the pq is better recording downrezzed hd on the panasonic via the ram-discs, but the replay is handy but it requires a sub like tivo. I want one of the newer recorders with the hard drive now.

I have both a standalone TIVO and a DVDR with the hard drive. I have used both with my Dish equipment and they work great. I will have VOOM Saturday and will report on their performance with VOOM.

I emailed TIVO about using a SA Series 2 without a subscription and received this:
Thank you for contacting TiVo Customer Support. I understand you would like to know if you can record using a TiVo DVR without an active subscription to the TiVo Service. I also understand that you currently subscribe to the Voom Satellite Service.
A TiVo Digital Video Recorder is intended for use only with a paid subscription to the TiVo service. Without the TiVo service, a TiVo DVR has extremely limited functionality, e.g., pause, fast-forward, rewind, and slow-mo live TV. In addition, no smart, automatic-recording service, or manual recording functionality is represented or should be expected.
Unfortunately, at this time, TiVo DVRs, even with an active subscription, are not compatible with the Voom Satellite Service.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me again. Please refer to web response tracking number: 150898, when you reply to this e-mail.

A DVD recorder is looking better all the time. :D

Using ReplayTV and WiRNS (freeware program) you can get guide data from Zap2It for Voom and record.

I have 2 tivo in my house and I'm about to get voom. There has been talk over at the tivo community forum about voom. From what we have been told is that they are currently hard at work making the software update to make Tivo have the needed info to work with voom. A stand series 2 DVR really needs a sub to have it work at all really. However the Panosonic DVDR tivo DOES NOT NEED ONE! It has a new tivo basic that give you 2 or 3 days of program info. You can't set up Season Passes, but you can set up repeating recordings. There is the search function by title for shows and I believe also by channel and time. I'm hoping to get the Panosonic 810 myself here soon.
