LITTLETON, Colo.-April 5, 2002--EchoStar Communications Corporation enthusiastically endorses Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell's efforts as well as those of Congressman Billy Tauzin, R-La., and Sen. Ernest Hollings, D-S.C., in spurring the digital TV transition.

That's pretty surprising since Powell's plan calls for at least 5 HD channels to be broadcast via satellite, and at least 1 HD feed from each of the major networks.
