I believe you can if it is the right type and is aligned to the DirecTV satellites.
Please give details so others familiar with Dish can help you.

When you go into the signal strength, it is for information only. Each transponder gives you certain channels, and it switches transponders when you change channels. I.E. the 500's (HBO, Showtime, Starz, CNMAX) come from 30 and 32. You should make sure that you have at least above 70 on one and two though.

And, on 101 don't worry about transponders 4, 12, 18, 20, 26, and 2, if some of those are zero or very low. These are the spot beam transponders that service parts of the country for locals. You may not be in the footprint for some of those. What I do is pick on a transponder that has a low signal, not spot beam, and tweak the dish for the highest you can get. Then the rest should also be better.

Signal of 86 is pretty darn good. Take a check at several, ignoring the spot beams. If you get a pretty consitant signal above 80-85 on average then you are pretty good to go. If you *really* want to you can try to tweak it above 90, but above 85 will give you pretty good rain fade protection.
