I will be having D* installed next week. Any suggestions on what I should request the installer to do or look for during the installation. It is hard to get a grip around what is going to be considered standard installation. I am getting 1 DirectDVR along with two other standard receivers.

I currently have RG-6 throughout my house, including having the house pre-wired for satellite (I just dont know if they did enough 5 years ago). We have all cables home run to a location in the master bedroom closet, including a cable with extra feed hanging in the attic awaiting satellite installation. At my primary/HT TV viewing location and master bedroom, the junction boxes are already wired with 2 coaxes and one phone line. I am getting the LNB dish in anticipation of upgrading to HD in the future, and I want to optimize the installers time and use while at the house next week. I dont know if they will be able to use existing wiring or if they will need to run additional/new wiriing. I would like to be ready to convert to HD in my HT location with minimal effort in the future, so I dont know if I should go ahead and have them install additional wires now (assuming that they will run cable anyway or if it can be done for a minimal cost) or wait.

Any suggestions, hints, tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

You will need four cables from the dish outside to your wiring closet. Other than that, your existing wiring should work, as long as your DVR (2 Tuner) receiver is going to placed in your primary viewing location/HT room or your master bedroom. You wouldn't need to do anything to convert to HD in the future, other than swapping the receiver out with the old one.
