Voom And Packet8 Voip

Does anyone know if voom can connect with packet8 voip service as voom says it can but other people say you need vonage or other voip with fax service. If future updates to voom come over the sat then why would i need the fax service also. Im a newbie to this and just want to be absolutely sure before i order packet8 and then voom. thanks if anyone can help.

Packet 8 is a voice over tthe internet phone service. You need either DSL or CABLE internet service for it. Some refer to it as VOIP. Which is voice over Internet.
VOOM is a satellite service provider like Dish Network or DirectV. Packet 8 will not work
with VOOM.

Dave, I do not understand your response to mica618. VOIP is Voice-Over-IP. VoIP is simple in that you take your ordinary household phones that operate on analog and plug them into a Packet8 router. This router converts the analog to digital and onto the Packet8 IP network to a call-diversion node that converts it back to analog on the other end (a Voom POP location modem).

This should have nothing to do with Voom, and many Packet8, Vonage, etc. VoIP solution providers do not have a problem interfacing conventional analog POTS equipment with their network. Heck, even DirecTiVo's don't have a problem.

So, I must ask why troubles you have personally experience, or troubles you have heard of others experiencing with Voom+Packet8?

Just to let you know i went with vonage and there faxline as everyone said this setup works for sure with voom and there phone line requirement. I ordered the vonage service and voom yesterday so i will let you all know how it works. Voom will be installed next friday. I could not get an answer for sure if Voom would work with packet8 as the packet8 site says it doesnt support it but packet8 told me it would so i chose the for sure route with vonage.
