Rust on Dish?

I have a 3 year old dish on the roof that has rust on the surface, would this affect the reception...Thanks

What kind of signal strengths do you get now? That would be the most telling on how rust is affecting the signal.

You should call DirecTV and buy the Phase III dish from them. It may be cheaper.

As for installation, the oval dish has a tilt or skew setting in addition to the normal azimuth and elevation settings. Because of the tilt setting, it is even more critical that the mast is plumb. I assume that your old dish is a round one. Set the tilt first and then use the az and el to zero in on the sats. Make sure you are aiming at the 101 sat as it is possible to get a signal and be aimed at 119.
