DirecTV continues to push forward litigation against end-users accused of stealing DirecTV's satellite TV signal, recently resolving two cases in Virginia.

In litigation involving a defendant named Mike Roland, home city unknown, the U.S. District Court for the Western Virginia assessed $40,000 in statutory damages and $2,000 in punitive damages. The court also awarded DirecTV $11,884.85 in costs and attorney fees, amounting to a total monetary award of $53,884.85, stated court documents.

In addition, the court ordered Roland to cease from receiving, transmitting or divulging DirecTV's signal, or assisting others with the same effort.

Another case, also before the Western Virginia federal court, involved a defendant named Michael Lowery, a resident of South Boston, Va.

The judgment recently handed down by the court required Lowery to pay DirecTV $50,000, and the defendant also was ordered to pay DirecTV all taxable costs incurred with the complaint. In addition, Lowery was ordered by the court not to use or assist others with any device used to steal or acquire DirecTV programming, stated court documents.

They might end up getting pennies on the dollar.

Most of the people that get caught are either smart enought to hide their money away from the courts reach, or are small time dealers who piss away the money as quick as it comes in.

Sometimes NDS hires people they bust to help kill pirate cards.

I was told they force people to subscribe as part of their extortion settlements. Looks like this guy could never subscribe.
