The local office here (Bluegrass Satellite) blows. I was set for an 8-12 install this morning. I get a call at 11am telling me that the tech is running a little late and should be at my house a little after noon. Thats fine. I told her that as long as he was here and the cable run and tivo installed before 3:30 I would be happy (I work second shift, so I leave for work at 3:30, thats why I wanted an 8-12 install time). Well, 2pm rolls around and still no call/no show. Well, I call D* and they get a hold of the local installer and I finally (after waiting on hold for 20 min) get to talk with the technician and am told that he was running behind on his installs today because someone early this morning needed 2 ditches installed to run cable. It had rained all last night so the ground should have been soft and easy to dig into, why it took him 4 hours is beyond me. Anyway, he tells me that he's on the job before mine and all he has to do is move a dish from one side of the house to the other. He said that he might not be able to get to mine and have it done by 3:30 and that I may need to reschedule. So I talk with the local office (after having to call D* because the local office is unlisted and didnt give me their phone number. I am told that the earliest they had was 8-12 on Thursday. That is unacceptable to me. I tell them that I had a firm install date of today from 8-12 and I shouldn't have to wait 2 days because they didn't send out more techs to get these jobs going. They tell me that is all they have so another call to D*. D* tells me that they understand completely why I'm upset and they get on the phone with the local installer. I tell D* that I want an 8-12 for tomorrow because I'm not waiting anymore. D* finally gets through and gets me an install for tomorrow morning 8-12. I like D* but I hate the local installer. If you live in the Louisville, KY area (I think they do all of KY and parts of OH) I would ask for anyone other than Bluegrass Satellite when ordering D*. All I need is one damn cable run and my dtivo. 30 min tops for the job.

You should read about my experience with E*. Over three months and still I get cancelled or no one shows. I wish you luck. I think tomorrow there might be a strike by installers by E* and direct TV. Chris Blount wrote about it in one of the other forum areas.

I would do this myself if I didn't have a damn cable run. If there was only a way to get the dual tuners to work over a single coax.....

I would run the coax but that would require me drilling into my siding on my house and I don't want to accidentally hit an electrical line.

They better show up tomorrow...... Thats all I have to say.....

What will you do if they don't show up?

Do everything but the cable run. The Dish should fit on your existing E* mast.

Oh, the dish is already installed. The installers were out Saturday. I have the 2 regular receivers already hooked up and going good. The way I got my Tivo deal was I had to get my initial install done first then they could add the Tivo on which for me requires the installation for the second dual tuner.

Well when the DirecTV installer put the two cable drops in my bedroom he had a 18 inch space to drill between two power wires and guess what, he drilled two inches from the power wire and angled it right into wire and about two days after he left we found out what had happened when the bathroom receptacle did not work anymore. I knew from the get go that I should have done it myself but I got lazy and it ended up costing me more time because I had to fix the power wire which ended up taking three times as long as it would have taken for me to put the RG6 cables in myself. Good luck with your install, I know you will like the new DTivo receiver.

Did you call and demand that they fix it??

No I figured it was my fault for asking them to drop two RG6 cables down the wall in one spot when all they get paid for is drilling holes through the outside of the house. I had already put the dish up and all the other wiring was already done from when I originally installed my Dish Network system so I figured they were getting paid for a three room install what the heck let him drop the two wires in my bedroom. I am sure if I called them they would have come out and fixed it, but it only took me three hours and I did not want to have to wait for them.

YMMV with Bluegrass. I had them install my DTiVo and then two months later my Phase III dish, no problems. Installer actually called each time to find out if he could come earlier than schedule (by about 1 hour). Guys were great for me.

Well guys, I have my directivo installed. Its a Samsung SIR-4040R (I think, but its the Samsung 40gig model for sure. Anyone else have this model? Is it better than the other brands? It took the guy an hour and a half to run one cable and install the directivo.
