Has anyone had any success getting there Personal TV fee ($9.99) waived for the (Dishplayer) 7200? I have the "Americas Everything Pak" and the PVR fee is waived for newer DVR's, but not for the 7200. When I brought up this point to the CSR, he recommended I get a "TiVo-like device". That made me about choke on my gum! Hope that phone call was monitored for quality assurance. :icon_hroc

I think you're stuck on this one. You probably made the same mistake that I did when I got my 7100 in 1999. They had a deal for about 2 months where you could pay $99 as a one time fee for a lifetime subscription. I declined and they never offered it again....instead of paying the monthly fee I simply continued to use my VCR, I only used the PVR feature for freezing the program which was free from monthly service charges. I just sold my 7100 on e-bay ($329) and bought the 508 ($200)....the 508 is having problems and will be replaced by Dish under the warranty next month.....the thing I miss the most from the 7100 is the TV listings and the name based searching which I no longer get with the 508.

I recommend that you email Charlie's office, rather than dealing with the CSRs. I don't think the CSRs have the authority given to them to make a deal. But if you've been a customer for a while, the executive office is more helpful. The address is CEO@echostar.com I believe. Be polite - I've found them reasonable. There's a good chance they will waive the fee or at least cut you a good deal on a 501/508.

I have posted on this subject before. Write to ceo@ech ostar.com and leave them a contact phone number. I suggest that you mention that others had a free period extended and that it was inherently unfair.

Good luck

I bought another 7200 when they discontinued them in 4/01 and got "free PTV". I haven't seen the $9.99 charge since on my two 7200's that are still active.

just remove the ptv from your account and add it back on. it will be free. its kinda like being grandfathered into paying the fees. people who had it for a while are most likely paying for it, while people who just added it (within the last year) are getting it free.

I Know people who have added it recently that are paying. It is totally inconsistent.

YEE HAW! Got an email back after sending my question to ceo@echostar.com. I was told by the CSR ("Customer Resolution Specialist"?) to contact him personally. I called and he looked at my account and gave me PTV for free! BOOM just like that!

Guess I should have asked him for a free 522 too.

PTV rocks :icon_bb: !

Now, anyone got information on adding a bigger harddrive to the 7200?

There's plenty of info available for that. Basically just plug one in, jumpered as "single" or "master" and see if it works. If it doesn't try fiddling with the jumpers.

If successful, it should want to download from WebTV which takes about 45 minutes and several connections.
