View Full Version : Audio interconnects question for DVD-A/SACD 6 ch output
Does the quality of the audio interconnects really make a difference for DVD-A and SACD 6 channel output?
If I used well insulated video cables for the sub and center channels and standard audio interconnects for the F/L L/R, would I hear a difference?
i.e. would it matter if I used cheapos or non-monsters?
How about if I used these cables and used the video cables for the sub and center channels (assuming they carry wider bandwidth and need the better insulation)?

If you mean "Monster" the brand name, I'd stay away from them. Not because they are bad cables - they are fine. But they are WAY overpriced (Monster is as much a marketing company as they are a cable company, and they have to pay for that marketing somehow).
There are many other companies that make cables as good as and better than Monster at the same or lower prices. Bettercables.com is an excellent place to buy cables. Tributaries, A/R, and others also make great cables at lower prices than Monster. Don't be caught up in the brand name, shop around, and you'll get great cables and probably save some money too.
Stay away from Monster, they are the biggest rip-off going in terms of cables. visit pacificcable.com, the biggest selection and lowest prices. They also have great toll free customer service.
Thanks for the info!
I got some A/R cables and they seem to be working fine.
Now I need to figure out why DD EX is not coming through my stereo.....
Was working fine before I plugged in the DVD-A 6ch inputs.
I have a Yamaha RX-V1200 receiver.

Pioneer DV-563A and Philips 793CH DVD Changer. Optical Audio out from both to the receiver. 6ch output also from 563A.

Most receivers and preamps require that you switch between multichannel input (Analog) and Digital input. Check your settings on the Yamaha and make sure that the signal being received is not "Multi. Ch." input when you are trying to listen to a DD or DTS soundtrack.
Yup, multich is working. The DD 5.1 comes through just fine.
I'm going to try and tweak the DVD players tonight. Maybe it's on that side.
Thx.
