Well i went ahead and did it. I ordered vonage voip just so i could get VOOM, and i ordered it also today. Install will be next friday as i have to wait for voip service first. I dont know if im nuts or just a tech junkie as i have Directv,Dish and now VOOM. Directv is getting dropped and im going to keep Dish for the international programming as i watch alot of Fox in spanish for the soccer games.
VOOM is all for the HD and next month im getting a new 60 inch LCD tv and i cant wait.
Does anyone know what kind of dvi cable the voom box uses? single link or dual link? thanks

What LCD are you getting?

VOOM comes with it's own DVI cable. Not sure of the kind. I've had it since Monday. VOOM customer service is VERY responsive if you have problems--which you will as they're just starting out.

Im looking at the sony gran wega, panasonic and also the hitachi. its good to hear that voom gives you the DVI cable as dish doesnt.

I got my Voom installed yesterday and it was the installers first time for voom. He was very friendly and he did an excellent job. I did have to tell him about the little red button inside the door on the voom box. I showed him this site and he was going to go home and check it out.
Everything seems ok and the ota antenna they put in works great as i get all my local channels here in southern Illinois.
The Voom box is able to use my vonage voip line to dial out so if anyone else want to know the Vonage voip with the fax line does work.
I will keep an eye on everything and post again how everything is going. adios mi amigos

Well, how is the channel line-up?

What is your take on the picture quality, diversity of programming, and pretty much just having what you want to watch?

I didn't know about the OTA antenna (or just forgot). But I did see VOOM add this weekend that promised new install charge or purchases...so, depending on the lease arrangement, I was thinking of getting it just for the HD content, and keep dish as well.

Why did you think you needed Vonage for Voom? It can't even be used with Voom, as you found out.

Sorry, I misread what you had said, but I have heard of people complaining that certain things like satellite receivers don't work all that well with digital phone service, but it depends on where you live and who provides the service. but again, why did you say you need Vonage for Voom?

Because Voom requires a telephone line to be hooked up to the receiver now and i dont have a regular landline phone as i only use cell service now. A landline phone cost over $50.00 dollars a month here and i got Vonage for just $25.00 including the fax line they offer.

Just want to let everyone know that after having vonage voip for a few days now that it seemed to be working with voom but it really wasnt. i tried the vonage with my dish network box and no luck there either as it wouldnt work even though i have vonages faxline. Yes i did try to connect it to both the phone jack and the faxline jack without any success and to make matters worse the vonage modem kept kicking me off my xbox live account. Sorry vonage but if i cant play my xbox and my satellite boxes cant use you to dial out then its bye bye vonage. I have 14 days to try and if i didnt like then i get my money back so i used that option.
I will give vonage voip credit though because the phone calls i made was top quality for the sound.
Now lets get back to voom as i had to call them today and tell them that the channel master antenna wasnt picking up all of my local stations. sometimes my ABC would fade out. I have never had a more friendly person then the one i talked to at voom today, mind you that when i signed up they was very friendly also but this lady today went out of her way to help me as she is sending my installer a bigger antenna and she said if that didnt work then he can purchase one in my area that would work. Cost to me is 0 dollars. Now that is service

Very cool. I'll be interested in charting your progress and impressions of the quality of Voom's programming. I use E* for my basic programming, but get HD from OTA and I'm very interested in expanding my options.
