our locals are on 105, transponders 3 and 5. Beginning around 3 PM today, we keep getting a "Acquiring Satellite signal" for these stations. In the setup menu, I notice that the signal strength is 25, then shoots to 65, then drops to 25. Signal strength on 105 transponder 7 is a steady 70. Other satellites are fine. The 105 problem is happening on all three receivers.

Anyone else having a problem?

Edited:

3:38 transponders are fine again with signal strength around 65.

I'm also having the same problem. When I'm watching my locals on the 105 I get acquiring satellite. Called tech support and walked me through the usual stuff. Reset,Checks...etc. Still problem comes back. My signal stays around the 70 mark. Probably have to keep complaining to dish to get this resolved.

Its not just you guys. As an installer of super dish 105 kits I have concluded the single feed LNBF for 105 on the super dish is very low in power. They are very hard to tune in and have very low signal streangth. I do not know what to to tell you but you are not alone. In my opion super dish is garbage.

Tps 3 and 5 at 105 are running 66-67 on my 721 with Poor Man's Superdish.

About 47-52 on the FTA receiver. Analog 80-82.

I have also been experiencing problems with the signal at times, where it will say acquiring satellite signal for just a moment then it would come back. It does not happen all the time, just part of the time. Sometimes it pixellates instead because it does not lose the signal for long enough to get the acquiring satellite signal screen to come up. I get my locals on transponder 4 at the 105 orbital location. I have replaced all of my wires and DP34 switch with the same results.

I checked my Primestar archives for transponders 3 & 5 on 105*.
They have been steady both with signal strengths of 72 when I installed,
and now both currently still at 72, on my 6000. I'm using the 34 inch primestar. I have a spare 39 inch primestar, when the mood for curiosity sets in, I'll try it at the 105 & 121 positions. When I had my 301 subbed, it
gave me much stronger transponder readings over the 6000.
I became aware of this when a friends 3900 gave him a 125 strength for our locals, and my 6000, only puts out 117. I checked my old records, showing a
125 strength, with a 301 off the same dish.

You have the solution. Superdish is designed to work with the new not yet deployed higher powered satellite at 105. A Primestar or older single LNBF StarChoice (30") dish is required for reliable reception now. Also, the skew setting must be accurate for your location as like all North American Ku satellites, this has horizontal/vertical polarization.

It is ironic to see Echostar using Primestar's old (leased) satellite which even belonged to DirecTV for a while when they bought Primestar.

It's good to know that others are also experiencing a problem. At least it is not my equipment. We have had this problem a few times (maybe 3-4) since our install last November. In each case, it has lasted about 30-40 minutes, and cleared itself up with no action on my part. What is fascinating is that although our normal signal strength is around 65-70, I do not normally have rain/cloud fade on 105. Incidentally, yesterday, when this happened, there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

If there was an install (skew, for example) problem, wouldn't I see the problem more often? Out of curiosity, is any one having a similar problem with 121? The reason I am curious is that I am one of those few people who have a 105 dish installed for locals (Albany, NY) that are officially at 121. I guess eventually Dish will be contacting me to covert my Dish over so it sees 121 instead of 105.
