I want to thank you Chris for the welcome.
Hello fellow DBSTalkers,
I want to thank all of you for the privilege to serve you. Well let me introduce myself. I have been married for twelve years, have three daughters, and we live just out side of Philadelphia, PA.
Multimedia has been a hobby of mine for most of my life. I was first introduced to the small dish services while living in Germany in 1993. Sky Tv was my first satellite service. I returned to the US in 1995, one year after returning I became a Directv customer and have been every since. I became a VOOM subscriber just after it was announced that Ucentric was going to handle the software for their new DVR system. Out of shear luck I gained two contacts within Rainbow Media, they are two executives that keep me informed on what’s going on with VOOM. I can call them anytime and get my questions answered. If they don't have the answer right away they get back to me with in a day or two. To round out my content delivery, I have Time Warner cable so I can give a fair comparison of all three. I got rid of Dish because I got tired of the equipment and the way Dish runs it's company.
Just like all of you I am an HDTV geek and find myself watching less SDTV; how can I stand SD after watching HD? Because I am a Sci-Fi nut I give a pass to shows like Stargate SG-1 and reruns of Farscape. I replaced all TVs in my house with HDTVs. I have on rear projection CRT, one rear LCD projection TV, a 20" (16x9) flat panel LCD monitor, and a 1366x768 front projector.
I hope this gives you some insight as to how I can help all of you. I look forward to serving all of you.

A little bit late, but welcome Clinton. Sounds like you are well qualified to mod this forum and I look forward to your insights. Maybe you could give us your 'impartial' impressions of Voom as a viewer, and what I can expect if/when I subscribe to voom.
Again, welcome & best of luck. :hi:

Thank you Nick,
He is my unbiased opinion on VOOM.
I am enjoying VOOM and I am also frustrated at the same time. I like the fact that I have several movie channels to watch in HD. Just last night I watched the Rock in OAR HD on StarzHD, I could not watch it on Directv or Time Warner cable. The fact that I have an East and West feed for most of the HD Channels is a major plus because if I missed something on the east feed I can wait three hours and watch it on the west feed.
Now for my frustrations. I am not fond of the software for the receivers. The receivers also have problems with long runs, they do not put out as much power to the LNBs as Dish or Directv, so if you have a long run and it rains you get a lot of rain fade. I don’t like the fact that there is not way to go to the full guide in one step. When you do get to the full guide you don’t start the guide for the channel you are on, but from channel 100 (HD News). The lack of SD channels is very frustrating. I want the Sci-Fi channel and all of the Discovery channels (wings, science, Discovery Times). Last but not least; I want my DVR.
Over all I am treating VOOM as an investment. I do believe that it will get better with time. I would suggest to VOOM, that they should take some of the exclusive HD channels and replace them with something better like an HD Sci-Fi channel. It would be very cool to watch Stargate SG-1 in HD 5.1 with no commercials like I use to watch on Showtime. The monster channel is cool but you can’t have monsters with out Sci-Fi to back it up.
I hope this helped you and thanks again.
