I don’t know how Dish got my number, but it’s interesting how much information can be passed along at 5 AM. But, here is the juicy bits: On April 31st, Dish Network will be launching the Everything’s $19.95 channel. This channel will features products that either be $19.95, or have monthly payments of $19.95. This channel is expected to be located at 1995. Recent firmware upgrades to the receivers will allow customers to tune in channel 1995, and that Dish’s DVRs will be not be able to record or pause any of the shopping channels. In addition, MackerelVision technology will be employed to prevent the recording of the shopping channels on VCR or Replay units. Dish is also planning on launching the “America’s Top Shopping” package which will feature all of the shopping channels for just $5 per month, but is having difficulty getting the waivers so that E$PN and public interest channels. Locals would also be offered for an additional $5.99 per month. This is expected to be resolved by April 31st, when Dish launches it’s “Shop Until You Drop” promotion. This promotion will allow new subscribers to purchase refurbished 301 receivers for $19.95 each, and require a 2-year commitment. HD and DVR receivers would not be available under this promotion. Next year, Dish will be launching a new Public Interest channel called the Tax Information channel. This channel will feature tax preparation tips and tax amnesty programs provided by the IRS and state tax boards. The channel will run from January 1st until April 15th, and would be located at channel 1040. I headed back to bed now.
