Defective Tivo ?

I had my tivo installed this afternoon and i noticed when i was messing around with it to get the hang of it that all of a sudden while watching a show the screen started to have red lines going through it,its hard to explain but if you ever have tried to view a NTSC movie in PAL mode it did that sort of distortion in a red color.

What would cause this ?

Oh yea it did this while the guide screen was up to.

How do you have it connected to the TV. Check all connections, especially the s-video if you are using it. You also should try a reboot.

It sounds like a bad signal, is you dish properly set up, or is raining hard or about to rain or snowing out right now? I do know the DirecTivos have had some issues with loss of color when they first come on, does it look like pixelation?
