View Full Version : Superdish, Can't get 105 working...
I just had a Superdish upgrade. The installer could not get the 105 satellite switch working. They had alot of trouble in our area, NE Indiana. I have a PVR501, 301 with superdish and SW34. Switch 2 and 3 test OK with 110 and 119 Sats. Keeps saying No Connection on switch 1. I get a 30 signal strength on transponder 1 but no good on the switch test. What can I do?

That could be a region of the U.S. that is on the fringe of FSS signal at the 105 orbital location. You could get a bigger dish and put that FSS lnbf on it. I would try to get another installer first.

I am wondering why you are trying to get 105 in NE Indiana. Locals from Fort Wayne are on 121. South Bend's are on 105 and recently made active. On the signal map both areas are about equal. The blue line markes the edge of the where E* said 105 would be available (until AMC-15 launches).

Our best results in kansas come from having 119 in switch 1 and 110 in switch 2 and 105 in switch 3, "usually" if you peak 110 to the highest signal about 115-120 in kansas 105 is "usually" there in the mid 60's then you can touch peak it to the low 70's

Probably not a huge difference in signal strength, but on the fringes of acceptable signal strength, it could be an issue. I'm in Fort Wayne and have had 0 problems with signal strength...but of course I'm on a different satellite.
Lagrange, Koscuisco, and Elkhart counties all could be considered NE Indiana, although a better classification would be North Central Indiana. He also could be a "mover".

Hopefully he will come back and answer the question.
LaGrange and two Michigan counties (Berrien and Cass) are in the South Bend Market, with Steuben County in the far NE in the Fort Wayne Market. Looking at the signal strength above, Fort Wayne DMA actually has the same if not better coverage from 105º as LaGrange County and the South Bend DMA. (I wonder why South Bend DMA stayed on 105º ... but that's another issue.)
The blue line in the drawing is where E* said they would sell 105º dishes. Note that all of Michigan is "out" -- even the two counties that have their South Bend DMA locals on 105º. It is just a line on the map though ... It isn't like the signal actually stops at the state line.

South Bend channels are my local and were the only channels offered to me by Dish. They, of course, are on 105. Dish had Unicom come out and set it up. I will say that they appeared professional and definitly came with the right tools. The day was very overcast and windy and they were having alot of trouble in our area with the 105. My problem is I'm still sitting here paying for something I am not recieving. I called Unicom Monday, two days after install, and couldn't get them to offer any solutions. They said "Did you call Dish?". I called Dish and they scheduled me again for next Monday. I hope it isn't storming.
:D Thank's to the internet, I found out what was really wrong. The FSS feed was incorrectly positioned at the manufacture. See Bulletin. Technical Information Bulletin (http://www.cvssystems.com/techservice/superdish/11_21_03.pdf)
