The Demo channel now has a banner similar to the one that the original CBS-HD channel has.

In a related story, hundreds of Sears showrooms will be without a Dish Network Demo feed on April 15th. Perplexed by technology, Sears A/V sales personel could only respond with "werked yesterday" and "its all in HD anyways cuz its digital".

Yeah, all HDTV subcribers can see the Demo Feed, but really its a endless loop of the same 20 minutes or so of material. You quickly lose interest in it and never return. That loop has not changed in since I first got HD in Feb of 2003. They don't even plug HDNet or ESPN-HD on it, just Discovery HD Theater.

The demo feed is on 61.5. If you are aimed at 148, you don't get the demo channel.

Does becoming 8psk have anything to do with allowing those of us w/o wing access to view the channel?? In other words will Dish500 customers be getting more HD?

The CBS-HD channels will remain on the wings.
Tests are underway for three or four HDs on a transponder. If successful that will help bring at least one more channel to 110. Possibly four depending on other needs.

Four Hd Channels On A Transponder? Good God!!!That would be a heck of a lot.

Please, say it ain't so. :(
I see pixellation every once and a while on HDNet now, with only 2 per transponder.

Moving to 8PSK encoding actually allows them to get more channels per transponder without a perceived loss of quality. Hence, Dish would be able to theoretically increase the number of HD channels on the wings.
Since the 110 channels are already encoded in this fashion, there's no additional gain here, but as was noted above, Dish is checking to see what they can do with HD channels and spot beams to maximize use of available transponder space.

148º TP 31 - Three Channels HDTS1, HDTS2, HDTS3
148º TP 14 - Four Channels HDTS4, HDTS5, HDTS6, HDTS7
All are in "engineering". I cannot confirm the actual content of the transponders.

It is Tp 14. :)

Correct! I wiped off the 14 instead of the 3 on the TP# (314).
Long morning.
