I checked my bank account balance this morning online and found out that Rainbow DBS had charged my account $276 TWICE!!!!
I have no idea where they get the first figure of $276, let alone charging it to my account twice!
I am leasing the equipment for $9.50/month (with no contract) and subscribe to everything V* has to offer. They told me on the phone it she be around $90 a month! I have only had the system for a little over a month!
I called 1-800-GET-VOOM and talked to the CSR, and the "manager on the floor". To keep this short they told me that they would call me back, after the took it to the "escalation" department.
I told them they took money that they were not authorized to take, twice mind you, and that they would be hearing from my attorney.
Can anyone help me out here PLEASE??? Even if it is # of someone else to talk to so I can regain my losses.
Needless to say, I cancelled my subscription!!!!

It might not be VOOMs fault. Well the first one would be, but my Vet seemed to double charge me, and I found out it was the bank. I called the bank and they credited me for the double charge.

I agree. You might want to check with your bank first. I've had times when my bank would double charge me for something and then fix it later in the day during their nightly audit process.

I went to my bank and they took care of everything, although it had nothing to do with my bank! I had to fill out about 15 pages of paperwork, but in the end the consumer (me), does actually have some rights and some protection against these things!
Now had the CSR helped me out in the same way, I may still be a subscriber!

VOOM does not take check cards, you used a check card, when you signed up you were read the standard disclosure that told you that you had to use a valid major credit card. Your case is a prime example of why VOOM does not accept debit cards right now.

Maybe Voom does not accept credit cards because they do not report all their earnings, lol.

Now OX, you certainly can not be sure what was said to me on the phone. Not once was I told I needed a major credit card. I told the CSR when I ordered that I wanted to use my debit card. No problems taking the number from me and taking the money out of my account, but somehow they dont take debit cards??? Seems fishy to me!
Had they informed me that it HAD to be a CC I certainly would have given them one!

I use a secured credit card for all my online transactions. So far i havent had one problem and i have peace of mind knowing if there is a mistake that they can only get a very limited amount.
Does anyone know of any pros or cons of using a secured visa card?

well, they should have. Hard to beleive that you even told them it was a debit card, and they still took it, lol. Not that I dont believe you, it is possible, just should not have been done.

Maybe Voom does not accept credit cards because they do not report all their earnings, lol. Voom accepts CREDIT cards -- It's DEBIT cards they don't accept. Having a credit card is often considered an indication that the card holder is credit worthy. Debit cards are issued to everyone who opens a depository account with a bank or credit union - regardless of their credit-worthiness.

If I were to place a bet on what the charges were, they were a CC hold. Like the say I went to car rental place , they usually put a 250 hold charge ( somethign your not charged on your bill) it basicly to see that if they needed to charge yoru card for damages they have a hold on money and your not trying to pass off a over exteneded card. Example I tried the Rhapsody Music service they offered one month free ( at the time for unlimited use was 19.99) well I sing up and the next moring I see 19.99 gone from my bank account I called them up and they said it was a temp hold and I should see the funds back in a couple of days.
So it was probably a temp hold charge they put on card fro the recivers. ( this is what is wrong with leasing stuff over owning.)
I think you were unfortunatley the unwitting victum of an idiot csr.

Yes I was, but i was willing to continue with V* and their services had someone been willing to help me out in my situation! Their reply " of someone will call you back" was not acceptable to me considering the situation. So they not only lost me as a subscriber, but also 6 other people I turned on to V*!

Wills77 dont get me wrong I was not trying to defind them. They wer wrong not for what they did but how they handled the situation. It was stupid of the csr who took your order to say they accept debit cards. It not your fault. just the idiots at vooom

The reason they had to call you back is because since you used a debit card, its harder than a few mouse clicks to fix the problem... When something like this happens with a debit card, VOOM only sees the one transaction on their end, not two, because to their knowledge it was a credit card and they only charged you once. Something like this has to be looked into, and the average CSR cannot do that. So it gets esculated and the appropriate people handle it.

This seems to be a common problem with businesses. Which is lack of customer services. They seem to forget they are in business to make money and to provide customer service to a customer. This was VOOM's fault. Right, wrong or indifferent. It was VOOM's job to make it right. VOOM does not have the right to say, well we'll call you back sometime soon. There are to many companies out there that want to make this promise. OH WE'LL CALL YOU RIGHT BACK. Yea right and I'll sell them the Brooklyn Bridge and I'll call them right back. Wills77 done the correct thing by calling the bank himself and by CANCELLING HIS SERVICE and by telling (6) other potential customers to go somewhere else. Maybe VOOM will learn to care for there customer if they keep loosing customers like this.
